WCAG training

Welcome to the A11y Collective, the premier destination for web developers, designers, and business owners looking to make their websites more accessible. We are proud to offer comprehensive WCAG training that will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to ensure that your website meets recognized accessibility standards.

What is WCAG?

WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, a set of international standards for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities. These guidelines cover everything from text alternatives for non-text content to making web content navigable using only a keyboard.

Why is a WCAG training important?

Legal Compliance

In many countries, including the United States, Canada, and the European Union, there are laws that require websites and digital content to be accessible to people with disabilities. Failure to comply with these laws can result in legal consequences, including fines and lawsuits

Social Responsibility

Making digital content accessible is not only a legal requirement, but also a social responsibility. People with disabilities should have equal access to information and services, and creating accessible content helps to ensure that everyone can participate fully in society

Business Benefits

Creating accessible content can also have business benefits, such as increasing the reach of a website or app, improving user experience for all users, and enhancing the reputation of a company or organization

Technical Expertise

Accessibility is a specialized field that requires technical expertise. A WCAG training provides the knowledge and skills necessary to create accessible digital content that meets industry standards and best practices

Overall, a WCAG training is important for ensuring legal compliance, social responsibility, business benefits, and technical expertise in creating accessible digital content.

WCAG Level A to Level AAA

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is a set of guidelines developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to help make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. The guidelines are organized into three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The difference between each level of conformance is the number of accessibility requirements that need to be met. Here is a brief overview of each level:

  • Training WCAG Level A: This is the minimum level of conformance, and it includes the most basic requirements for accessibility. Meeting Level A means that the website can be used by some people with disabilities.
  • Training WCAG Level AA: This level includes more advanced accessibility requirements than Level A, and meeting it ensures that the website can be used by most people with disabilities. This is the most commonly recommended level of conformance for most websites.
  • Training WCAG Level AAA: This is the highest level of conformance, and it includes the most advanced accessibility requirements. Meeting Level AAA ensures that the website can be used by almost all people with disabilities. However, meeting this level of conformance can be difficult and may not be necessary for all websites.

It’s important to note that meeting a higher level of conformance does not necessarily mean that a website is more accessible. The level of conformance is simply an indicator of the number of accessibility requirements that have been met. The goal of WCAG is to make web content as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, and meeting Level A or AA is often sufficient to achieve this goal.
