What does The A11Y Collective expert audit look like?
During an expert audit, we assess your website’s conformance to WCAG success criteria, ensuring it meets the required accessibility standards. This is done according to the WCAG Evaluation Methodology (WCAG-EM):
- After a brief intake meeting, we will select a representative sample of a maximum of 12 different web pages or templates on your website.
- One of our auditors will test your website for all success criteria of WCAG using multiple testing methods:
- Manual testing: We test your website using various Assistive Technologies, such as screen readers, keyboards, magnification tools, and more. Manual testing is always necessary, as automated testing tools cannot cover all of WCAG’s success criteria.
- Automated testing: Our auditor scans web pages using software for specific errors such as missing alt text, contrast issues and HTML structure problems.
- We will report the findings per criterion.
- Based on our findings, we will include some recommendations to remediate the most urgent topics.
